Children are given the freedom to explore at the own pace. No end product is expected, this will enable your little one to learn from experimentation. Each activity station will provide your child with a range of wet and dry sensory materials which are perfectly designed for your child to manipulate and explore. Children will explore new textures and use all their senses in the process of exploration, especially the sense of touch. At our messy play class children are given plenty of opportunity to mould and manipulate new materials. Grown-ups are also free to enjoy spending time with their little one, supporting them with their feelings of likes and dislikes and seeing their confidence grow with every new experience. Without worrying about the mess!
Messy play is important for a child’s development in many ways. Mark making skills are important to learn even for babies. Children who are exposed to mark making activities will develop their early motor skills. This will help develop their physical skills by building muscle strength and control in their fingers, wrists, arms and shoulders. In the long term this will support pencil grip and enable better writing skills.
Children will be exposed to sensory experiences; this will aid their communication and language skills. Our messy play classes will facilitate opportunities for parents and guardians to engage with their child and boost the use of rich vocabulary and imaginative language with their children.
Messy play is important to actively encourage cooperative play, to help children to build their social skills as well as to develop their own confidence in approaching unfamiliar situations, giving them a positive approach to new experiences. By supporting your child in their explorations, parents and guardians can help their child to explore their feelings about different materials, their likes and dislikes and to build their confidence to express their own ideas and feelings. Children will also have opportunities to select and use resources independently, this will develop concentration and problem – solving.
Children learn best from having fun. All our classes are designed to engage children. Each session your child will have fun and learning through play. Sensory materials children will experience will include: Water, sand, play-dough, gloop, mud and a range of edible items such as spaghetti, rice krispies, Angel Delight and much more.
