Develop your child’s love of nature. Our woodland discovery sessions are child led and specifically designed with pre-schoolers in mind. Children will be free to explore our woodland setting at their own pace. Your little one will experience bug hunting and nature craft activities at each session, enhancing children’s knowledge of the different seasons.

Outdoor learning provides children will endless learning opportunities. Being outside allows children to express themselves without space and noise constraint’s, aiding their development both physically and mentally.
Government early years standards requires pre-school children to learn about the world around them. Learning in an outdoor environment our classes are designed to encourage children gain an understanding of nature, seasons and wildlife.
Social skills
Children will develop friendships and co-operation. Outdoor play provides children with the opportunity to gain social skills by interacting, collaborating and negotiating with others.
Finding out and exploring
Our classes will develop the use of children’s senses, they will learn to understand the natural world and how it changes. In our woodland space children are encouraged to ‘have a go’, Children will be given lots of opportunities to risk take and learn to manage risk in a safe environment.
Active learning
Children become active learners in our woodland environment. Your little ones will become naturally more engaged in their self-chosen activities. Children will be provided with activities to extend their learning to aid concentration but will be encouraged to take learning in their own direction using the loose natural materials of the woods. Outdoor learning also promotes resilience – Children will fall over and get muddy but that’s all part of the fun.

Please note: Children will be outside in all weathers; long sleeves are recommended as it is cooler inside our woodland walk area; waterproof and warm clothes will need to be worn at each session. Children may get wet and muddy so welly boots are advised.
