Frequently Asked Questions

If you cant find what you are looking for, enquire in our enquiry form below and our volunteer coordinator will contact you.
Volunteering
Meet our Team
What happens after I submit my online query?
Your query is forwarded to the Volunteer Coordinator, who will read over your application and ensure a suitable role is available. Within five working days of submission will then get back in touch with you, either by phone call or email, to arrange next steps.
Do I need a DBS check or references?
All Volunteers will need to be DBS checked but having a criminal record does not exclude you from participating.  You will need three forms of ID to accompany your form. Most common ID is a current Driving License, Passport, Birth Certificate and a Utility Bill (dated the last three months). References are generally required but it depends on the role. For any DBS queries please contact us on volunteer@aldingbourne.org
Is there an age limit?
All Volunteers are required to be 18 years old+. There is no maximum age limit to volunteer with us as long as you are able to undertake the role.
I'm not sure how much time I can spare each week; is that OK?
We offer various different opportunities available to suit all schedules. Most opportunities are only for a couple of hours a week or even one day a month. However, we also sometimes offer project type roles that maybe a couple of days a week for a period of time. We will work with you to find a suitable match that will fit in with your other commitments.
Will I receive training?
We offer a comprehensive training program available to all Volunteers.  The Volunteer Co-ordinator will circulate the training availability on a monthly basis.
Do you reimburse expenses?
We will reimburse all pre agreed out of pocket expenses during the course of your volunteering duties.  The Volunteer Coordinator will provide you with a form to fill out.  The form will need to be issued by the 1st of each month.
What if I have a physical or learning disability?
Please let us know if there are any health conditions or additional needs we may need to know about that could impact your volunteering in order for us to best support you to carry out your role. For more information please contact us on volunteer@aldingbourne.org
Can I choose what event or area I volunteer in?
Yes, we have many opportunities across the Trust, please see the Vacancy Board for further information.
Can I volunteer with a friend?
Yes, provided that there is a suitable role available for you both, at the times you can volunteer and that both your applications were successful.
Do you offer work experience and Duke of Edinburgh Awards placements?
The Trust welcomes work experience and Duke of Edinburgh placements.
Work experience and Duke of Edinburgh Awards placement is unpaid and is often arranged for a fixed length of time. It will provide you with a glimpse into the world of work and the opportunity to try something new.  Placements are available throughout the Trust subject to age.
I've submitted my query and haven't heard back; what should I do?
We would expect that you would have heard back from your initial enquiry within five working days. However, if you are waiting to hear back, please do get back in touch by email on volunteer@aldingbourne.org as we value all our volunteers and want to discuss your enquiry with you.
